sins of the past

One can't escape the sins of the past.

About 25 years back, I went for weddings and looked down on the hoi polloi gobbling down the veg sadya. I did that only when they served 4 or more payasams. (Before that era, I avoided weddings like the plague. I was too young for that and deaths.)

About 10 years back or so, the 3-minute weddings here were extended to include out-of-state features like haldi, sangeet, whatever. Only those who looked good on social media were invited for those events. I was not.

Now, they don't invite me even for the wedding. The bride and groom like to have a grand party with close ones. That's the good news. The bad news is that the parents still hold a function or reception, expect me to give a gift cheque and they serve food which makes the hoi polloi wonder, "Are we really that low class?"
